MOUNTAIN Parenting
A Parenting Program to help you manage your child’s moods and behaviors with grounded confidence.
The MOUNTAIN Parent Program provides a science-based toolkit to help you manage your child’s moods and behaviors with skill, compassion, and grounded presence. This program is for parents – and parents-to-be – with children of all ages, and has been carefully designed to bring cutting edge neurobiology, compassionate communication, and evidenced-based skills to Roaring Fork moms and dads.

The MOUNTAIN Parent Program consists of a FREE 2-Hour Introduction foundation and a Full Day Workshop Intensive ($75) for those who wish to dive deeper into the concepts.  The workshops are experiential in nature, and will foster greater self-awareness and practices to create emotional safety, empathy and insight – conditions to build trust, respect connection for your whole family.

program goals:

  • Cultivate practical self-compassion tools to support parents and teach them to model self-compassion to kids.

  • Nurture the ability to be aware of the present moment with nonjudgmental acceptance, curiosity, and openness.

  • Learn Mountain Parenting philosophy, perspectives and skills to be able to respond skillfully and compassionately to your child’s (and partner’s) moods and behaviors.

  • Understand the neuro-biology of the developing brain – in easy to digest terms – and how to help your child regulate challenging emotional states with confidence and a grounded prescence.

  • Develop authentic, and compassionate communication skills to model and teach respect.

  • Learn ‘No-Drama Discipline’ elments based on the work of Dr. Dan Siegel.

  • Practice self-regultion with challenging emotions through top-down regulation.

  • Challenge irrational thoughts that deny reality and deliver suffering for you and your family

  • Build a supportive community and individual practices as the foundation to Mountain Parenting.

MOUNTAIN Parenting Mission:
Cultivating self-awareness and compassion in the Roaring Fork Valley by offering parents connective communication, science-based tools, and a radical perspective on nurturing the next generation.

Instructors

Dan PanzarellaDan Panzarella, MA. LPC, is a licensed professional counselor, family therapist at the Youth Recovery Center at Valley View Hospital, a contract therapist with YouthZone and DHS, and a mindfulness instructor.  His dedication to supporting familes and parents stems from years of professional experience, personal struggles and mindfulness practices. As a loving and imperfect father, Dan strives to become the best parent and husband he can be while supporting others.

Dan is a graduate of Naropa University’s, Transpersonal Counseling Psychology Master’s program, and has studied Mindfulness-Based Relapse Prevention (MBRP), Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) and has enjoyed a personal practice for the past 9 years with teachers like Reggie Ray, and  Roshi Joan Halifax.
