People often think of postpartum depression as something that only affects women. When men are asked about their level of happiness after their child is born, it’s almost socially expected that they will respond with enthusiasm and joy.
While becoming a dad is one of life’s precious gifts, initially, it can seriously challenge men’s sense of identity and purpose, leaving them feeling depressed and empty at times. As much as 10% of new dad’s will feel this way, and it’s time to notice, accept, and find compassionate ways to move through this.
