Mindfulness is not a religion, a way to escape reality or a means to alternate universes. Mindfulness is not about getting calm or not having any thoughts, although this can happen in the practice of Mindfulness.
Mindfulness is essentially composed of 3 parts: 1. awareness, 2. of the present moment, 3. with non-judgmental acceptance. Mindfulness helps one
cultivate the ability to observe their present moment experience – including thoughts, feelings & sensations – without identifying, clinging to, or pushing away from it. If we are mindful of our experience, we can choose to respond to the world rather than react from habitual patterns and conditioning. Mindfulness practice also cultivate one’s ability to be with whatever arises with compassion for oneself, others, and one’s experience.
